MARKETING DIRECTOR
The Position
The Director of Marketing will lead the branding, communication, direct to fan, partnerships, activations and campaigns that tell Chivalry’s story and drive awareness, engagement and ticket sales. This leader will be strategic, resourceful and hands on and leverage a keen understanding of marketing live events and entertainment in an independent venue ecosystem. Marketing is responsible for storytelling and driving results for Chivalry Hospitality overall and its individual clubs and the events, across all the communities they serve. Unparalleled creative and execution skills are also essential to the role, across marketing channels including paid and earned media and social media, email, and SMS marketing and campaigns. The Director of Marketing will lead a small team and work closely with the Founder / Owner, the booking staff, and the venue managers. The right candidate will also be adept with numbers, with a strong focus on ROI of marketing investments and on the overall genre and revenue growth goals of Chivalry Hospitality.
Specific Responsibilities
Lead the marketing function at Chivalry Hospitality Group and impact fan engagement and ticket sales.
Create an overall strategy for marketing, branding and communications for Chivalry Hospitality Group’s venues: Catch One, El Cid, and Don Quixote.
In partnership with senior management, create and implement an overall marketing strategy, and take responsibility for execution of plans to meeting or exceeding established targets for brand awareness, audience expansion and, ultimately, ticket sales.
Manage and oversee the marketing and brand efforts for Chivalry Hospitality overall and across the assigned venues, interfacing as appropriate with senior management, venue managers and booking managers at each individual club.
Optimize marketing strategy to connect with core stakeholder segments including but not limited to fans, promoters, agents, artists, artist managers, labels, donors, community partners and brand partners.
In collaboration with senior management, build out priorities, and a marketing roadmap and marketing calendar.
Craft communications that cascade through all channels including press and social media.
Identify potential brand or marketing partners to engage in marketing activations that drive awareness, affinity and engagement.
Spearhead and resource all digital marketing including website, email, newsletters, SEO, paid and earned media, socials and SMS.
Cross marketing with promoters to maximize fan acquisition, attendance and ticket sales.
Advise on press strategy, ensuring that Chivalry receives coverage from journalists and influencers covering events and issues in the southern California, the live event industry and the independent venue ecosystem.
Manage the marketing budget.
Lead and nurture the team which currently includes a Social Media Manager and a Creative Director, and grow the team as business needs dictate and budget permits.
Qualifications
4 or more years of demonstrated success as a marketing leader working across multiple venues within a competitive, fast-paced and dynamic live events environment.
Experience in marketing across multiple channels such as press, socials, digital, email, SMS, branding, events and partnerships.
Understanding of and passion for Chivalry and the artists, communities and genres they serve.
Proficient in a range of business tools including social media and messaging tools, Microsoft Office and G-Suite.
Highly proficient in Meta Business Manager and other paid social media tools and platforms.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to think strategically, and translate strategy into goals and actions.
Self-starter, proactive, flexible and a creative problem-solver.
Highest level of curiosity, work ethic and integrity.
Compensation
A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, commensurate with the role and the relevant experience of the final hire. Base salary for the role depends on the job-relevant knowledge, skills, abilities, education and relationships of the final hire and is anticipated at an annual rate of $85K to $100K.
